I got pregnant at an early age and when my so-called boyfriend found out I was pregnant he immediately ran off to save himself from responsibility. My parents were not very well-off at that time, in fact they also had a lot of financial issues in life and having myself pregnant is another problem they had to shoulder. I felt so down and helpless during the nine months that I was pregnant, good thing the federal government has a law that financially supports women like me.

After giving birth I was decided to live my life independently because that is how it really should be. I just waited for the right time and rested a bit to recover from the delivery of my baby. I gave birth to Sophia, a healthy baby girl who looks like an angel that would save me from all the distress I have in life. Sophia gave me the strength to move on with my life and be successful.

When my baby girl turned one year old I headed for school again. I studied in a technical school here in California so that I can be an ultrasound technician. I started to love kids and babies after having Sophia which is why I took a course that will land me a job as an ultrasound tech in a women’s health centre near my place. I was able to earn an Associate degree in two years time while my needs and Sophia’s are being taken care of the federal government and a little from my parent’s. Sophia was three years old then when I started earning my ultrasound technician salary.

I still needed time to save so that I can live independently but unfortunately I have realized that it will cost extra to hire a nanny. I was also scared that the nanny won’t really take care of my precious Sophia so what I have decided to just stay with my parents since I’m the only child anyway. After two years of working as an ultrasound tech I have saved enough money to continue my studies and earn a bachelor’s degree.

My mom and dad were both retired when Sophia turned five which is why I need not to worry of who will take care of my kid. I continued my studies bit by bit because I can’t let go of my job. My parents however are both financially stable now, and they have paid of every single cent off their loans before they retired so as a family we had a lot less worry about money. I got my Bachelor’s degree in Sonography after four years and that time Sophia was already nine years old and I was twenty-seven.

I can’t believe that my ultrasound technician salary helped me pull-through every obstacle in life. My life as a single mom has never been a walk in the park. Sophia was quite sickly which is why we are often in the hospital when she was between the ages of two to six. I’m very happy that despite all the trials I have been through I have my good old parents to support me and help me out.
